Part Five

Pain was all that seemed to be on your mind as you woke up the next morning. You groaned softly as you tried to sit up. The pain that rushed through your head was exquisite; much worse than you could ever think was possible. It had felt like someone had struck you in the head with a metal bat. You could now only manage to move your head.
"Hey, _______...." A voice whispered to you.
You could see Dib sitting beside you with a wet cloth. You winced weakly as the cool rag was placed on your forehead.
"T-this should help a little...." He said softly and you could hear the sadness in his tone of voice. "I-I called your Mom.... I told her that you were here and were staying for the weekend..."
You tried to say something but couldn't find any words to say.
"I... I'm sorry this happened to you...." Dib softly said.
You could now feel his hand against your cheek.
"_______......." He said, his voice actually seeming to crack. "Y-you're fever has gotten really bad......"
You then felt him stroke your cheek gently with his thumb as tears fell from your eyes.
"I'm going to find a way to help you get better..." Dib soothed quietly.
You started shivering and let out a hard cough, your throat feeling burned and raw.
"E-easy....." He whispered. "You should rest a bit more..."
"M-my head...." You managed to croak out.
Dib's frown deepened a bit. He carefully pulled you into an embrace, hugging you tight.
"I-it's okay......" He soothed and gently rubbed your back as he let you rest your head against him.
You started to feel a soft rocking motion as he held you close. The cough from before came back; this time harder and rougher than before. It was at this point that you let out a choked sob and closed your eyes tightly.
"Ssshhhhh.... ssshhhhh........" Dib soothed softly.
You could feel his hand running through your (hair color) hair as the rocking motion seemed to help the pain in your head lessen slightly.
Dib placed the blanket around you and himself as he had felt you shivering.
"Dib.......?" You croaked hoarsely. "I-I'm scared....."
You felt Dib slightly tighten his hug at your words.
"I..... I won't let anything happen to you...." He finally said, holding you even closer now. "I will find a way to stop this..... You'll see..."
You felt him hugging you tight and you managed to hug him back as well.
"I-I need you to be strong right now.... Alright...?"
You choke on a soft cry forming in your throat and quietly answered him.
"Okay... I'll make sure that nothing happens to you...."
You then felt a soft peck on the cheek making you blush a bit. Did Dib actually just give you a kiss? You managed to pull back and look at him and you could see him blushing as well.
